Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are a mixed population of Hispanic, Native Americans, African Americans, and Caucasian. We are a Title 1 elementary school with 100% free breakfast and lunch. Many of our students come to school in the same clothes every day. Our students do not have an opportunity to experience, extracurricular activities at home or outside of school. We do our best to bring current educational trends to our school to benefit our students.

We need a cash register and grocery basket to help in our math/grocery center.

This is an extension of our living center. The students enjoy playing house and store shopping. With all of our foods and groceries we obtained from our last donors choose grant, an added cash register and shopping basket would make our learning centers complete!

My Project

In adding a cash register and a shopping cart to our living center -- it will become a math center! The students will be able to count money, role play sales and stocking, plan a menu for dinner and have fun doing it! Modeling and playing are a key role in the kindergarten learning process. Students will be able to experience real life world situations by shopping and preparing meals for their "play" family including 2 baby dolls! Providing these opportunities goes toward the knowledge and well being of a kindergartener! Early experiences and opporunities are wonderful goals for our students to learn and cooperate with one another!
