Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach Italian and Spanish to high school students in a Title I school (which means that a high percentage of my students come from low-income families). To teach effectively and for my students to learn effectively, my classroom needs a color printer so that I can print color pictures to help my students identify and describe items in the target language. I also create bingo cards to get my students using the target language in a fun way, but without color pictures the images are very difficult to identify. Having a color printer will help my classroom and my students.
Color printed materials offer many benefits in teaching students.
For example, they capture attention and deliver an enhanced learning experience. Research has consistently shown that color increases memory retention better than verbal or textual cues alone.
