This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My Autistic students are very eager and have a lot to say! They are predominantly non-speaking or minimally speaking and need a way to communicate their wants, needs, and ideas. My students become frustrated throughout the day from not being able to express themselves. This often leads to them shutting down and losing confidence.
The AbleNet BIGmack AAC device will provide a voice for my students to communicate!
I can communicate a message up to 2-minutes long using the AAC device. This will allow my students to request "I want," "more," and "I need help" simply by pressing the button. My students will also be able to ask questions, such as, "Can I go to the bathroom?"
The FRQNTKPA 8 Color Voice Recording Button will allow me to record a word or phrase on each button and attach a corresponding picture. This will enhance classroom instruction, as it will keep my students engaged and promote their participation by either repeating the sound, or pressing the button that indicates their response to a question.
Please help me give my students a way to communicate. The AAC Communication Device and Color Voice Recording Buttons will allow my students to communicate their wants and needs, which will significantly improve their learning and self-confidence. My students deserve to be successful and FEEL successful!
