My Students
Time...is a precious commodity at school. There never seems to be enough of it! With all the standardized testing, endless writing prompts and the need to "prove your answers" in math, every minute is planned out. Even sharpening pencils has become time consuming.
I have a wonderful group of 4th grade students.
They are hard workers and want to show you their best. In order to do their best, they need sharp pencils. Many want to bring in mechanical pencils because of their sharpness. Unfortunately, they become more of a distraction with leads falling out or taking time to refill. What they really want and need is a sharpener that will quickly get their pencils "to a point."
My Project
Individual pencil sharpeners seem convenient but all you get is a messy desk and shavings all over the floor when it "accidentally" drops. Forget about having nicely colored projects-colored pencils are a pencil sharpeners worst nightmare. If they need a pencil sharpened they have to ask me to use the one precious one I bought by my desk. We need your support. My students need access to quality pencil sharpeners and pencils that will last over time. With a new sharpener, less time will be spent sharpening and more time completing work.
Quality working pencil sharpeners are often taken for granted when you have one.
With not having one currently in my classroom I now appreciate what they bring to a classroom. Thank you for helping our class.
