My Students
I teach at an elementary school in the heart of "Cajun Country" where we encourage students to become active learners and accountable for their academic success. We are a French Immersion, Leader in Me , and Title 1 school. Our students come from diverse backgrounds but all share a common goal to help our school progress from "good to great." My first graders arrive each year ready to progress from emergent/early readers to transitional readers. My focus is not just to teach them how to read but to become readers, leaders, and lifelong learners.
My Project
Electric pencil sharpeners and student dry erase boards get a daily workout in my first grade classroom. As we know items that are used daily over the course of the year do not last as long as we hope. Having an efficient, working electric pencil sharpener will allow my students to sharpen their pencils quickly and independently so that precious time is not wasted and they can get to the task at hand quickly.
Dry erase board are used many times throughout the day from practicing sight words to creating math stories.
With their habitual use, we have to replenish our supply so that we have a class set for the students.
These two basic items are staples in my classroom and will assist my students with their day to day instruction.
