This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My school is an inner-city school. We serve a diverse population of students and families. We serve a student population of English Language Learners and with many students living at or below the poverty line. Since our school serves a very high population of economically disadvantaged families who face many unique challenges, the staff at the school partners with families to not only support students' academic needs but social and emotional needs as well. Despite language barriers, they come to school eager to learn.
My Project
Please help give my students a block center. My students are limited on what they have to build with. Having the blocks will help them use their creativity and imagination.
Building with blocks help children learn to take turns and share materials, cooperate with others, and develop self-esteem and problem solving skills.
This is important in early childhood development.
With the blocks and and signs they can use cars to build communities which ties into our social studies standards and ramps which ties into a science standard and like I mentioned above the social skills that will be developed as well.
