This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My kindergartners this year are special and unique. Due to the pandemic, they haven't had as many opportunities to socialize with their peers before they started school. I work at a school that serves a low-income population. Most of my students do not go to preschool and when they enter my classroom it is their first experience in a school setting.
My students will be more engaged in their classwork if they have a choice of where to work in the classroom.
Having the wobble cushions as a flexible seating option that they can use anywhere in the classroom will let them be successful no matter where they are sitting. The book bins and book totes will allow my students to be as mobile as possible in the classroom so that their supplies will follow them wherever they choose to sit. Five-year-olds struggle to focus during a full day of school. This inability to focus causes disruptive behaviors and a lack of attention during lessons. My goal is to provide my students with a range of options for flexible seating in the classroom. This will help them focus on the lesson and be more comfortable in their learning environment.
