My Project
Lines and shapes are the first things I teach to my young artists. Nothing gets their eyes wider than telling them that we are going to paint. Painting with kindergarteners could be seen as crazy to attempt, but in my many years as an art educator, I have come to rely on a specific kind of paint that the kids and I love because it is so easy to work with.
Tempera Cakes are an art teachers best friend!
When students muddy the paint because they haven't mastered brush cleaning, a sweep over the cake with a wet sponge cleans it up in seconds. They don't stain clothes, they last forever, and most importantly, the kids make amazing art with them.
I am also requesting some fun crayons and some ebony pencils. Ebony pencils are a wonderful material to introduce shading to my 5th graders and all the new exciting kinds of crayons are sure to inspire even the shyest, most reluctant young artist.
