This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My PreK students are in their first year of a PreK-5 Spanish Immersion program. The students come from English, Spanish, and other language backgrounds. Our wonderful program has been in existence since the early 1990s but added PreK in 2004. It is a unique opportunity to learn a second language while focusing on social-emotional development and kindergarten readiness in a public school setting. Our goal is to foster bilingualism, biliteracy, and biculturalism that will last our students a lifetime.

My Project

Having fun art materials available in the classroom, things the students might not have at home, makes creating even more fun! Multicultural crayons are great for self portraits and who doesn't love smelly markers?!?! Paint sticks make for a less messy beginning of school year introduction to art and crafts projects.

We love starting the school year off with colorful art projects to decorate the classroom and make it "ours."

These fun art materials make it possible for the kids to explore their creativity and take ownership of the classroom environment.
