Curious, creative, determined, and engaged are just a few of the words that come to mind when I think about my students. Their enthusiasm for science is the source of my desire to deliver a top-notch science program.
We are a diverse school with students from all over the world and spanning all socio-economic groups.
This diversity pushes me to plan lessons that will give all my students the opportunity to be successful and follow their interests as they relate to the curriculum.
My Project
This year farming in the classroom is back. My students love working on our hydroponic systems. The first step is germinating seeds and nurturing them until they are seedlings and ready to transfer to the system.
II would like to try some different planting mediums in order to make our lab more sustainable.
Typically we use Rockwool, but it isn't the most sustainable and can be irritating to the skin of some students. These compost bark and coco coir rooting cubes hopefully will be a great solution. The students will be able to create an investigation to compare the different mediums.
