Let's Get Series About Reading Part 2

My students need the Zack Files series books about planets, ghosts, and volcanoes for reading workshop!

My Students

My second graders are voracious readers! They love to read both fiction and non-fiction books. Their favorite characters include Pete the Cat, Fly Guy, Piggie and Elephant, and Mercy Watson. They also love to read about insects, space, and plants. My students are hungry bookworms! They are eager to learn and read about the world around them.

My students love to be at school and are like little sponges absorbing everything around them.

Their parents work long hours and usually do not see their children. The children are usually cared for by their grandparents or a family friend. Most of them do not have someone who speaks English at home. Thus, it is difficult for students to acquire language.

Due to financial hardships, my students do not have the opportunity to participate in extracurricular activities during the school year or summer.

My Project

Your donations to this project will allow students to continue reading books from their favorite series! Each day, I have students asking me if I have more books from their favorite series. As part of our reading unit, my second graders study and delve deep into a character from a series to understand character traits, patterns, and character motivations. My students then share their findings with a partner and write reading responses about their characters.

My students love to share every single detail about their favorite character!

Reading the various series books in the classroom has launched my students' excitement to read non-stop during reading workshop. Through the series books, I hope to have students continue asking for more books to read.

Due to school budget cuts, it is challenging to have the materials needed for a successful school year. Your donations to this project with provide the necessary funds for these series books.
