This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a teacher to an amazing group of second grade students. I look forward to the warm good morning handshakes, smiles, and greetings from each one as they walk into our classroom.

The school they attend is classified as a Title I school; therefore most of them are "at-risk students".

All of them qualify to participate in the free breakfast and lunch programs. The community in which they live in is stricken by a high level of poverty. This, however, does not affect their desire to please me, which in turn makes me love my job even more so. I can only hope to impact them on the importance of striving for success.

My Project

The use of magnetic lined paper and pointers will be used for daily activities in my classroom, especially in writing. They will allow me to demonstrate, as well as provide an easy view for them to see an example of the lesson at hand. The magnetic picture pockets will be utilized to personalize our classroom environment during center / small group time for the Reading and Math scheduled blocks. I want my students to feel at home in our classroom. What is a current problem is the fact that the most of my students' families can not afford writing spiral notebooks for the writing process. Therefore, the spiral notebooks will enable students with basic school supplies and they can focus on increasing their learning! The laminating pouches are a necessity in our classroom to protect the student's classwork that is displayed.

By donating to our project, you will help me to better prepare my student to their you learning goals which will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement.

Students will be able to simply focus on the academic material at hand, and not whether their materials are going to work or not.
