My Students

I would like to give my students the opportunity to find "just right" books that they would be interested in reading and exploring during our reader's workshop. The phones would also be beneficial for the children to be able to hear themselves read.

I am a kindergarten teacher in Indiana.

Our school is a Title one school and all of the children receive free breakfast. Around 90% of the children receive free or reduced lunch. We have a large population of ELL learners. The children really enjoy reading and writing. They are always asking me if it is time for reader's/writer's workshop. I would love to provide the children with a rich environment where they are able to reach their highest level of success.

My Project

I would like to give my students the opportunity to find "just right" books that they would be interested in reading and exploring during our reader's workshop. Leveled readers are important for children to feel that they are able to read a book. The phones would also be beneficial for the children to be able to hear themselves read. The phones would benefit my children during writer's workshop as well by allowing them to re-read what they have wrote. The leveled books along with the phones would provide additional support to my ELL learners.

The broad impact this project would have on the students would provide them with additional support and encouragement for them to be the best readers and writers that they can be.
