Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are not just learners; they are thinkers, creators, and problem solvers. They come from diverse backgrounds and each brings a unique perspective to our classroom. They support one another, celebrate each other’s successes, and work together to overcome challenges. Their resilience and determination inspire me every day to do everything I can to help them succeed.
In my classroom, we have a daily reading session where students can choose the books they want to read.
My goal is to create a classroom environment where every student feels excited to learn and confident in their abilities. By providing them with books that spark their interest and resources that cater to different learning styles, I aim to improve their reading comprehension, critical thinking, and overall academic performance.
As part of this project, I will coach my students to enhance their reading skills. I’ll show them how to analyze characters and plots, check for understanding, self-monitor, and figure out vocabulary words and idioms. This targeted support will help them not only enjoy reading but also become more skilled and thoughtful readers.
To further foster their love of reading, I am seeking high-interest books that will captivate their imaginations and encourage them to explore new worlds through literature. Books are powerful tools that can transport students to places they’ve never been, introduce them to new ideas, and help them develop empathy and critical thinking skills.
Additionally, I am requesting a gift certificate to access worksheets and graphic organizers that are visually appealing and tailored to meet their diverse learning needs. These resources will not only make learning more engaging but also help my students organize their thoughts, break down complex concepts, and express their ideas more clearly.
