This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My classroom has 24 special children. They are smart and talented and come to school everyday ready to learn. These students come prepared to learn despite the fact that they live in low socio-economic homes. We are a Title 1 school which receives 100% free lunch and snack. My students want and deserve the best education they can get. They have grown academically over a short period of time, so the sky is the limit for them. Even though we face obstacles, we work hard to overcome them.
My Project
This CD player, class set of headphones and books/CD set will have a huge impact on my students and their literacy needs! The majority of my students don't have the money to purchase their own head phones or the opportunity to be exposed often to print rich literature. This listening center will help my students increase their literacy skills and give them the tools for success by helping them focus with listening materials to improve literacy. This will give them the opportunity to improve their fluency skills, language skills, and give them the chance to work on comprehension skills as well!
