This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school population has changed so much in the past few years. We serve free or reduced-price lunch to over 70% of our population. We have seen an increase of incoming families that have immigrated with very few resources. Our school community relies more than ever on schools to be able to provide resources and materials to all students despite all the budget cuts we have faced.
My Project
My students missed the experience of Kindergarten live in person. They missed out on learning how to play outdoor games that teach us how to share, help each other out, solve obstacles and how to be a team player. Many have never experienced playing organized game s that require following steps in order to obtain their goal.
Team work makes the dream work!
We desperately need equipment that will allow my kids to learn a variety of guided games and teach them to play together. With these games my students will have a selection of different games to learn from. With games like scooper ball they will learn to work together to obtain points. We will learn basic rules for baseball, learn coordination in games like ring toss and corn hole. All these different games will motivate my students to get up and be physical during their breaks versus just walking around or sitting all the time. They will get to bond with others and learn to play together and learn the meaning of teamwork!
