This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Nothing is better than child's art! I teach a group of fabulous first graders at Leonard R. Flynn Elementary School in San Francisco's Mission District. Our school is in a low-income, high-need area.
With all of the demands of California State Standards, art is often pushed to the wayside. My creative first graders deserve opportunities to use their imaginations and explore differing modes of learning. However, I am often struggling to find art supplies and/or a convenient way to introduce art into our weekly routine.
By supporting this proposal, you can help me get supplies that will allow for the realistic, convenient introduction of art into our schedule on a regular basis. Students will have new brushes to use with an organizing holder to easily clean and then store them. As well, the no-mess mats will help us keep our classroom clean as well as helping students transfer their beautiful artwork to the drying rack (also listed in this proposal). Lastly, I am requesting a set of cool paint pens that control the amount of paint that comes out to help guide my little ones.
I plan to schedule a new art project related to our current language arts or science theme at least once a week. Students will engage in painting or collages as well as other multi-media projects.
Your sponsorship will greatly increase the art opportunities that I can provide for my students on a weekly basis.
