My Students

Our school is a community where children learn academics in and through the arts. The students participate in theater/drama, dance, art, and music. Our students have the opportunity to learn through the arts from preschool all the way to 8th grade in our dual-campus setting.

Our school population is very diverse culturally, economically, and racially.

The families at our school speak a multitude of languages and come to us with a multitude of abilities and learning styles.

Our school is a unique environment where every adult meets every child where they are at emotionally, academically, and socially.

My Project

Third grade is a very critical year of learning for all students. Third grade students face bigger academic expectations with school tasks. Distance learning will present some challenges to our students and make it more difficult for them to learn the skills they need.

My team of teachers and I are determined to work towards getting our students the tools they need to find success with their online distance learning.

We have several families who have multiple children learning in the same environment. Noise reducing headphones will allow students to attend to the online instruction and minimize background noise distractions. We also want our students to have whiteboards for learning. We use this tool often for math instruction and having them available to our students will give them an opportunity to show, explain, and teach others what they know. Lastly, magnetic letters are crucial for our students who are learning English as a second language. Many of our kiddos are just learning how to read and they will benefit immensely with the use of letters to play a variety of learning games where they practice letter recognition, letter sounds, and sight word formation.

We want our third graders to feel successful learning from afar, understand and retain concepts taught, and minimize some of the frustrations that they may feel trying to learn digitally already. Please consider helping my third grade team obtain these supplies for our very deserving students.
