This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students need to get moving! We need resources for active play and Physical Education.
I teach at a Southern California elementary school with high levels of poverty.
Many of my students' families do not have the resources to allow them to participate in extracurricular sports leagues. Thus, physical education during the school day is very important. Recent budget cuts have resulted in the loss of Physical Education specialists, and I as the classroom teacher I will be responsible for meeting their needs in this area.
My Project
These active play activities and materials will provide my students with much needed opportunities to be physically active during the school day- even when the weather is unaccommodating! They will be engaged in fun, cooperative, developmentally appropriate activities that will nurture their growing bodies, as well as their minds.
These donations will allow my students to incorporate a healthy level of physical activity in their daily lives.
Please help me to ensure that budget cuts do not have a negative impact on the quality of physical education activities that my students experience!
