An organized classroom is a happy classroom! First Graders are able to focus better in an environment free from clutter.
I teach First Grade at a Charter School in a very low income district of New York.
My students come from diverse backgrounds but all have one thing in common- they love to learn! They enjoy reading and listening to books, writing, and art. They are also excellent mathematicians.
My Project
We just received a very generous gift of new books for our listening center, but they didn't come in bags, so they're still in the cardboard box that they came in. We would love to have some fabulous zip-bags with a stand to keep them safe in. Our pencil bins may have been in this classroom since the dawn of time, so we're hoping for a nice new set. Our scissors are currently living in a bucket with the glue-sticks and sometimes get a little bit gooey. A new set of scissors with matching case would be a dream come true!
Organization is crucial to a First Grade classroom.
We need every possible tool that we can get to help keep our materials in order. These three simple items will make a world of difference to life in our class.
