Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come from all different backgrounds, so this makes my classroom a really cool melting pot. I learn about new movies, music, food, and video games every day. Because of them, I always have a smile on my face. I wouldn't trade my students for the world. Seeing them grow into productive young adults has been one of the most gratifying experiences thus far.

These high school students have shown me what it means to be strong.

My students have taught me how to be extremely patient and understanding, how to be kind even when others are not, and how to remember that no matter what is going on in your life, there are people rooting for you. It warms my heart when I receive hugs in the hallways or when they do a little dance when they get an answer right in class.

Even though my students come from what the world would consider a low-income home, they are rich in character and courage. They fight through adversity and push through personal pain to get the education they deserve.

My Project

In English, my students need to take a lot of notes. Most of the time those notes and handouts get stuffed in backpacks, left on desks, or they end up on the floor. I am working with my students to teach them organizational skills. By having a binder and dividers, my students can keep all their notes in one section, their handouts in one section, and their homework in another section. This way when we I asked them to refer back to their notes, they know exactly where to look.
