My fifth grade students attend an elementary school in the Northwest suburbs of Chicago. We are part of a diverse community filled with hard-working families, supporting their children's academic needs as best they can. As a school, we focus on always doing what's best for kids! We have received many acknowledgments for the success we have achieved in meeting the needs of our students, even though we have limited resources.
Students learn best when they are having fun and are engaged in the learning.
I may be biased but I have some of the best 5th graders! Their desire to learn and be the best they can be blows me away every day. However with the curriculum becoming more rigorous and technology is become a necessity in the classroom. This is why I am looking to add iPads to our classroom.
My Project
My 5th grade classroom has transitioned from desk to tables. This is very exciting for them but what do we do with all their school supplies. The answer is seat pockets!
Moving from elementary school to middle school is a big transition for my 5th grade students and having organization skills will help them transition from class to class easier.
Using these seat pockets and teaching the students organization skills will prepare them for having a locker next year. Learning to label or color code their supplies and how to organize them in their seat pocket will give them the skills to organize their locker and get to their classes on time and prepared.
