My Students
My 7th and 8th grade students belong to a diverse school in Philadelphia. Our district and school tries to give our students all that they can, however money is limited. Their academic success directly contributes to their high school acceptance. Our students want to excel, however they lack the resources that many schools in suburban areas have. They also mainly come from low income families where may not have access to the same resources as home as other students. Many of our students lack organizational skills and it negatively impacts their learning.
My Project
My 7th and 8th grade students need planning books to keep their assignments, upcoming project and test dates, as well as other activities in one place!
My middle school students have the drive of an olympic champion and the organization of a toddler.
I know I don't remember everything that's due weeks ahead, how can we expect our kids? I've watched students struggle academically because they keep forgetting due dates and assignments. Teachers don't just teach subject content, they teach life skills and organization is a life skill that applies to all subjects for years to come. Having the ability to be organized will ensure students are on top of their deadlines and losing less academic points due to forgetfulness.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
