My students need 1 mobile shelf and 1 locker for a growing pre-k class to organize their things. They also need "chewy tubes" to help regulate sensory seeking behavior.
It's Back to School time and there is nothing like going in to a well organized classroom where preschool and pre-kindergarten students can belong in a new and orderly environment. They need an organizer shelf for their toys and supplies as well as chewy tubes to help their sensory needs.
I teach preschool and pre-Kindergarten age students in a small size urban school.
My class is one of five special day classes in an adapted campus. We are a Title 1 school. My students are emerging learners and not completely vocal and social but very interested in learning. I have an ethnically diverse class. My students thrive in a classroom with a structured environment and where there is a place for everything . The more accessible the learning environment is, the more confident they can become. My class has doubled in size and there is a need for more shelf space to organize their things and use sensory relieving chewy tubes for their oral processing needs.
My Project
My preschool students need a new mobile shelf to organize their supplies. They started to acquire new materials last year and it will be great if these can be stowed in an orderly fashion and help the students independently learn how to access different toys and things as well as neatly put them away. This shelf can help the students understand personal space as well as develop clean up and cooperative skills.
Also, some of my students have sensory seeking behavioral needs such as oral fixation. They need chewy tubes to help them regulate this behavior as well as to help organize their learning process in a more appropriate way.
Having new mobile shelves will definitely make our class circle time more organized and the things more accessible.
No more "octopus arms " for me when I have to surround myself with my props. Using chewy tubes for students with oral sensory seeking behavior can help them organize their thinking skills and process information better.
