Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are 21st Century learners who are eager to use all of the technology available to them! I teach 29 curious, fourth grade scientists in a small, Title I school that has an amazing and supportive principal.
My students are eager to learn, and their brains are sponges that absorb any and all information given to them.
Everything is a potential investigation or experiment to them, so I strive to provide my students with as many learning and project-based opportunities as possible. I constantly enhance the school curriculum and students' intrinsic motivation to learn more by infusing STEM correlations whenever possible.
Because of our small school size, funding levels are not as high as other schools in our area. Grants and projects like this one become an integral part of how I obtain resources to supplement learning experiences. I truly believe that the future lies in our children, that they have virtually unlimited potential, and my job is to enable them to reach it.
My Project
I am requesting Seat Sacks to help keep my students organized and ready to learn. The students will just hang these sacks on the backs of their chairs and put their essential supplies in them and keep them right at their hands. These sacks will keep them organized and will eliminate the "I can't find that" moments and therefore providing for more time on task. My students are always involved in many hands-on, project based activities. My students sit at round tables and do not have a "desk" to hold the materials they need such as notebooks, highlighters, pencil cases, Science tools and Math manipulatives. The seat sacks are a great way for them to learn how organize their work and supplies as well as avoid misplacing any important materials or handouts, and space will be freed up on their desks for experiments and investigations. What a concept: an organized classroom!
Storage space is at a minimum in my classroom because my school is an older building.
The seat sacks will keep my students organized and ready to learn! My goal with this storage solution is to make sure that my students stay on task and not always searching for supplies. More time on task equals more learning!
