My Students
My students are a diverse group of 4th and 5th graders with a wide range of cultural backgrounds, languages spoken, and learning styles. My students come from the Philippines, Mexico, China as well as the Bay Area.
We work hard every day to build a classroom community that allows for all learning styles to be respected and met.
My students have an incredible range of interests and learning modalities. They take the great initiative in self-directing their learning, often asking me to order or check out books, researching a topic they are interested in, sharing resources with each other, and asking new questions. They are incredibly creative - creating comic books, writing narratives in their free time, designing whole worlds and characters for their stories, and ALWAYS drawing! They most love field trips, reading, and hands-on learning.
My Project
As the 2018/2019 school year comes to an end, I am thinking ahead and beginning to plan for the 2019/2020 school year. I am looking forward to organizing work stations and desk areas for my students.
These materials will be used to organize differentiated math and literacy stations as well as give students a "home" for all of their school work and supplies.
When materials are accessible, organized, and in their right place, we are able to dive deep into our learning and focus on the rigor of our content. Students will use the Chairback Buddy Pocket Charts to hold their homework folder, a book they are currently reading, pencils, glue sticks, etc. We will use the plastic bins, baskets, and envelopes to set up math and literacy stations where students can practice what they've learned in differentiated groups.
We can't wait for an organized 2019/2020 school year!
