My Students
My students are incoming Pre-K students in a Title I school in the South Bronx. More than three-quarters of my students come from low-income households. They are Black and Hispanic, and sometimes come from other countries where English is not the native language. This will be the first time several of them will be in a school building and I hope to make this upcoming school year as fun for them as possible!
My Project
In my project cart you can find gross motor equipment geared towards the preschool age. The items include a parachute, ring toss game, activity mats, balls, and a cart to store all the equipment. These items can be used either on the playground or in the classroom on rainy days. Gross motor activities are a vital component to any preschool school day, and this will ensure my students are given the opportunities to develop their gross motor skills through fun and engaging activities. It has been shown that regular participation in gross motor activities has been associated with improved academic performance and important school day functions, such as attention and memory.
