My students need a selection of active toys and games, such as a parachute and bubbles, that will let them use their imagination and get moving.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My class of 30 kinder and first grade students in a high-need community have active imaginations and a lot of energy, but no outdoor games.
Our small charter school has no resources for supplies, and no room on our tiny play yard for the usual outdoor games of basketball, handball and monkey bars. My students come from a community with a very high rate of diabetes and childhood obesity, and many live in apartments. I want to get all of them involved in games we can play outside together, and then pack up and take back to the classroom.
My students need a parachute and ball, bubble making wands, cones to set up obstacle courses, hula hoops, a croquet set, and toy cars to engage in dramatic and physical play on a daily basis. We can even take the games to the local park to have fun play days! We are also planning a unit on the physics of motion and the skeletal and muscular systems, and with the donations I am requesting, they will deepen their understanding of both.
With your donation, you will make it possible for my young students to play age-appropriate active games that will boost their creativity, cooperation, language skills, and overall physical health.
This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
