My students need outdoor equipment to strengthen their gross motor skills by strengthening their hands and legs. They will build teamwork by balancing to move the glider.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school serves Pre-K students who are eager to learn. Our students come from different backgrounds and socioeconomic statuses. Most of them are English Language Learners who have been fully immersed to learn a new language. They speak different languages including English, Spanish, Chinese, Russian, and Bengali.
My students are my inspiration!!
One of our goals is to prepare students for success in kindergarten. I believe that each child is capable of achieving anything in this world. It is certainly a goal of mine to learn and grow with my students. One of my hopes as an educator is to instill the love of learning in my students.
My Project
Recess is the most important part of our day! Everyday we take our pre-k students outside for 30 minutes to get some exercise and build gross motor skills. However, there is no outdoor equipment that the students can use.
Outdoor play allows students to learn lots of things about the world.
We would love to see our students use their imagination by engaging in imaginative play when going inside the the playhouse. The adventure lodge play center and the skyward summit targets gross motor skills as they strengthen their hands and legs. They also have to work cooperatively by allowing students to figure out how to activate the glider and pump their legs to move the swing.
They have to push their limits by asking themselves Can i swing higher? Do i go down the slide? How high can i throw the ball? Can i climb higher? What happens if i go down headfirst?
