This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have the largest amount of students in my classroom than any other room at my school. I am currently teaching thirty-one first-graders in a Title One school, located in a high poverty and high crime area of Pennsylvania.
All of my students receive free breakfast and lunch.
Many of my students come from homes where English is not spoken. I have three special education students and four ESL (English as a Second Language) students in my classroom. Six of the students in my classroom have an in-class social worker.
My Project
My students came up for the idea for this project because they got tired of sitting in their seats for over 20 minutes. With this kid inspired project, we are hoping to promote a healthy lifestyle. My students will exercise for a minimum of 60 minutes a day to fitness videos. They will use the Beats speaker system in order to hear the video. In order to play the video, they will use the DVD drive. They will take turns using the Fitbit zips to check the number of steps that they took each day.
My students have requested a donation of balls.
During outdoor recess and during gym, they will play with the variety of balls. My students want to stay healthy and active.
The Hokki stools will be used at our listening center. The children will listen to stories about health and wellness. These stools will promote healthy movement.
Please support this kid inspired project by allowing my first graders to have a healthy lifestyle.
