Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students come from an area of low income, and so, many of them struggle with additional stresses and hardships. My first year here was a wake-up call to the difficulties that many children face.
I work at a Title 1 school where free breakfast is served and many students are on free or reduced lunch.
My heart is saddened by the circumstances of some of my students and yet, to see them come to school eager to learn and show kindness to those around them makes me glad, every day, to have the privilege of being part of their lives. I want the best for these children. It is my strong desire that every one of them have what they need to get a good education and succeed in life.
My Project
These resources will be so greatly loved by our kindergartners.
The Music and Dance CD's will provide our students the opportunity to move and learn about beat and rhythm through safe music created for children.
Just as an example of the great benefit of these materials, the Folk Tunes CD will allow them to hear music from other countries and even learn simplified dances from those countries.
The Ribbons will be used with the Ribbons and Rhythms CD to improve motor skills, encourage movement and creativity, reinforce important concepts and so much more. For example, there is a song to teach the days of the week and songs to learn numbers.
I'm so excited to see how much our kindergartners will learn and grow this school year. Thank you!
