Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The first day of kindergarten is a major transition in all young children's lives. As a new kindergarten teacher, I will do my best to make this transition as fun and engaging as possible. My new 5 year old students will be curious little ones full of energy because they will be entering kindergarten. Some of them will enter school for the first time.
I believe that every student has the potential to learn and it is our job to find engaging activities that will unlock their full potential.
I teach in a public school that is located in a city where we have a 90 percent socioeconomically disadvantaged population and 4 percent foster youth.
My Project
Please help my students get some new, fun, and colorful playground equipment. I work at a school that only has a jungle gym, a few low quality balls, and some tricycles in the kindergarten playground. It is not that fun and it also causes constant problems. Also, students are limited on the games they can play.
New playground equipment such as colorful cones, numbered bean bags, jump ropes, and colorful balls will give my students more choices during PE and recess.
The goal is to get my students and the rest of the kindergarteners to learn skills such as catching, kicking, throwing, jumping and running. This new equipment will provide them with fun and exciting ways to utilize the skills they are developing. This equipment will also give us more choices during our scheduled playground time. This equipment will make a difference in the lives of our kindergarteners who need to release the extra energy during recess, so when they go back to the classroom, they can concentrate. It is just as important to get daily exercise as academics.
My students will love these new jump ropes, high quality balls, bean bags and other fun equipment. These items will make our recess and PE time extra fun. Kids will try their best in everything if we believe in them and providing them with enough playground diversion is a smart investment in our youngsters and our future citizens.
