Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am setting up a Culinary Arts elective for the first time at our middle school! This is exciting for both me and the students. My middle schoolers will be learning how to safely and confidently get cooking in a kitchen. I am requesting the EATEX Bakeware Set, BELLA 21 Piece Cook Bake and Store Set, Mixing Bowls with Airtight Lids, Cuisinart C55-12PCKSAM Color Blade Guards (6 Knives and 6 Covers), Simply Genius (8 Piece) Extra Thick Cutting Boards, Cuisinart CTG-00-MP Measuring Spoons.

Students will be using the above items to learn how to navigate around the kitchen.

We will start out by learning how to safely use kitchen equipment, cutlery, and knives, how to read nutrition labels and follow and prep a recipe, and the basics of cooking and baking.

I want my students to feel successful in the kitchen, be able to create a meal, and never feel relegated to having to eat Top Ramen at every meal when they are on their own because they feel they don't know how to cook! I want to make cooking a fun and tasty experience that opens up doors to other cultures.
