it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
If you are not already familiar with this event, let me fill you in! It is a silly, fanciful, wonderful way to teach students the spelling pattern of “qu” in a way that is truly memorable. Our Q and U wedding reinforce the idea that every time we write a word with a q, we always follow the q with a u. Our kindergarten students are learning to identify letters and blend phonemes in words. All 4 Kindergarten teachers will begin teaching “Qu” during phonemic awareness time when we return from Spring Break. “QU” is a digraph that makes a single sound.
I want to give my students a “QU wedding” and every wedding needs one important item-A RING!
Not just any ring, we need Ring Pops for all students and parents who attend our QU wedding. We will role-play a wedding and have two students role-play the bride and groom. In the post Covid world it will be nice to have everyone together again for this big event. Some students never attended a wedding so the QU wedding will be a new learning experience for them. Different students in our class will participate by being in the audience and wearing a letter from the alphabet. We have a flower backdrop and balloons to decorate for our QU wedding day. I want to make this a magical day for my students so that students will never forget that the letter Q is followed by the letter U.
