My Students
My students are eager to learn, but unfortunately, they do not have the full support they need to be able to thrive. They go through dramatic events both at home and school but they are special in their own ways. My students are in an urban, city neighborhood. The school is a tier-one school with a lot of the students having issues with their academics.
My Project
Since the past couple of years has been difficult for students, the students are being subjected to winter tests to see their growth from the fall. These tests are grueling and having some yummy treats and drinks helps take their mind off the tests. The school doesn’t provide those kinds of things and it gets costly. When the test takes weeks to complete, the students are still learning new material on top of all the tests they have to take. Having something to munch on takes the pressure off of students. As a reward, the sweet items will be in our classroom treasure boxes for them to take home and tell their families how their day was. A nice treat goes a long way.
