This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Walking into my classroom, you will see students code-switching between their native language and English, where everyone has a voice and gets an opportunity to speak.
My students are struggling readers who are trying to get into reading and having accountable talks in the classroom.
To help alleviate some of this stress, I have taught them how to highlight. Highlighting is a wonderful tool to have in your skill set, but unfortunately since all readers uses different lenses to read, other students are unable to enjoy the book the same way.
My Project
My students need highlighting tape in various colors to highlight important information from reading materials. Highlighting tape can help kids personalize their learning by reading a book through specific lenses and building upon what they learned in the classroom by allowing them to share their thoughts to others. In addition, it can help keep more books on the shelves and have more than one student read the book in a way that is beneficial and needed for their learning demands.
