Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have the largest amount of students in my classroom than any other room at my school. I am currently teaching thirty-one first-graders in a Title I school, located in a high poverty and high crime area of Pennsylvania.

All of my students receive free breakfast and lunch.

Many of my students come from homes where English is not spoken. I have three special education students and four ESL (English as a Second Language) students in my classroom. Six of the students in my classroom have an in-class social worker.

My Project

My students came up for the idea for this project because they got tired of sitting in their seats. With this kid inspired project, we are hoping to promote a healthy lifestyle.

This kid inspired project is for healthy snacks and water.

My students wanted to come up with a solution with incorporating healthy eating and drinking into their everyday activities.

My first graders have requested a Fitbit and scale in order to count their steps when we do exercise videos.

My students requested that we get balls. They will be playing with the balls and other exercise equipment for 60 minutes each day.

Some of the healthy snacks that the children are requesting include animal crackers, pretzels and Cheez Its.
