This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Active. That's one word that does a fairly accurate job of summarizing my students. They are active! This group of 34 rambunctious students love to learn from others and each other.
I teach in a suburban school where the gross majority of our students are on the free or reduced lunch plan.
There is a multitude of diversity in our classroom with regard to family dynamics, housing, and learning styles. In order to reach every student, I take care consideration in how I plan lessons to meet their needs.
My Project
I'm working on implementing a flexible type seating arrangement in my classroom. I'd like to start by changing out the chairs at my small horseshoe table that I use for small groups with wobble stools instead. They allow students to move while still staying in their seat and participating in the lesson being taught. I'd like to then work on adding more varied seating throughout my room.
Some students need to move or need some sort of stimulus in order to stay engaged during the day.
The wobble stools will allow students movement, while not causing a disruption nor an interference with instruction.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
