My students need math manipulatives and games including Math Memory, a Counting & Place Value Pocket Chart, and Tangrams for whole group instruction and independent center work to practice the skills we have learned.

My Students
Exploring with Math manipulates in First grade can be so exciting! It's a time to discover, learn, and be problem solvers!
My students love to participate and are eager to learn.
They enjoy working together with their classmates. We are part of a Title 1 school (PreK-8th grade), where supplies are limited. Mathematics is a weakness for many of our students, and we lack the critical manipulatives that often aid in understanding those harder Math concepts.
My Project
Recently, I attended a local Math conference where I was inspired to be more creative in how I taught my Mathematics lessons. The speakers gave us many wonderful ideas of how to use games and various manipulatives in our Math lessons to help our students better understand and grasp the skills we are trying to teach.
In First grade, my students are expected to master skills such as addition, subtraction, patterns, geometry, fractions, and place value. These basic skills are foundational to everything else they will learn in the next grade levels.
The various manipulatives and games that I am requesting will serve to extend my students' understanding of all these skills. Including these resources in my classroom will benefit my students by allowing more exploration and problem solving strategies to be practiced.
My students need more concrete materials to be able to visualize the abstract concepts that are taught in Math.
Help my students become proficient mathematicians by getting them excited about Math through these new manipulatives and games!
This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
