Help me give my students digital tools to create an exciting and engaging year as we continue learning from home. As a teacher and mentor, having these digital devices will greatly improve learning for my students with autism.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach and mentor a classroom of energetic and dedicated students with autism. My students are a group of innovative and imaginative kids with a love of learning. Distance learning has been a challenge this year and I would love to provide as many tools as possible to help my students access the curriculum and engage in our classwork from home. In order for me to teach to every child's unique needs, I divide my students into small groups where I provide instruction to match their learning styles.
My Project
Teaching and mentoring my classroom of students with autism during distance learning has been a challenge. My students are very visual learners and require many adaptations to our curriculum in order to understand and participate in lessons.
As we continue to learn from home I would like to be able to use more digital tools to provide easy access visuals, color coding, and interactive lessons that my students can enjoy.
These digital tools will allow me to mentor my students and give them the structure and academic support they need to succeed this year. They are students that love to learn but at times struggle to express themselves and have conversations. Being able to interact easier with our core materials and create modified online instruction for my students would be a life-changing experience.
I look forward to being able to mentor this amazing group of 2nd and 3rd graders as they navigate the uncharted world of distance learning and hope I can make it as fun and joyful as possible.
