My Students
George Evans said it best, "Every student can learn, just not on the same day, or the same way.” That philosophy lives and breathes in our classroom. Each of our students is unique and curious about the world around them.
Our school is a public separate school that serves students ranging in age from preschool to age 22 with severe to profound cognitive and/or physical disabilities.
Our students come from various backgrounds and continue to write the story of this school with each passing day. When I first visited the halls of this school, I was amazed by the caring, loving, and family-oriented atmosphere. The focus our school has on building community, family and student-teacher relationships guide students to their maximum potential. It is our responsibility to continue to foster this love of life and learning by providing appropriate experiences, education and learning tools.
My Project
Technology is a key component in the classroom and a computer would enhance my classroom instruction. In our classroom the computers are not only older but we are also very limited to software downloads and have limited access to useful tools that are available for learning. With this laptop we would be able to use the computer for instruction and for lesson preparation.
Students will be required to learn and demonstrate knowledge using computers throughout their lives.
This laptop will assist the students in beginning to navigate a computer to complete online learning with the assistance of a teacher. Everyone thinks that children are “natural computer users” but it is a skill just like music or sports that they must hone every day to have success.
