Let's Get Cooking!

Help me give my students a wide selection of kids' cookbooks to help spark their love of cooking.

My Students

Our library is a K-12 library serving approximately 600 students. The staff is innovative with a strong desire to provide the most effective learning environment available to students.

Our student population consists of a high percentage of low-income families who have very little access to opportunities outside of school and our small town.

Our students work hard and are excited to learn. One of the great things about our school is that it has a great sense of community so that our school is a hub for the community.

The library is where students come to discover the love of reading. Whether it is a love for fiction, graphic novels, or nonfiction I want to make sure we have a wide variety of books to meet their needs.

My Project

Cooking is a great life skill that will be utilized for a lifetime. Recently, many students have been looking for cookbooks because they want to learn to cook. While I can't hold a cooking class in the library, I would like to offer a great selection of cookbooks to help our young chefs get started. While they are having fun making food they are unaware that they are also learning important skills.

Reading directions in cookbooks helps improve their reading skills, measuring ingredients helps with math skills, while the process of baking is like a science experiment.

I would love to add more cookbooks to our collection to help students learn more than just cooking. With your help we can bring some wonderful, new cookbooks to students.
