My Students

My students are from low-income/high poverty areas as well as being special needs. These students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. They have come to our school due to the challenges they have faced in the regular school setting and have not done well.

Our program strives to help these students by giving them the social, emotional, and educational tools they will need in order to function and hopefully thrive in a regular school setting.

After completing their time with us, they return to their regular school setting, rejoining their peers with the needed skills to be successful in and out of the classroom.

My Project

These supplies will be used to start a cooking class for my middle school students. There they will be able to learn and practice a skill that will be used for a lifetime.

As my students come from multi-ethnic backgrounds they will be able to explore cooking from other cultures.

These supplies, bowls, pots, pans, and measuring cups will be used to start our program and it will only continue to grow with [practice and experience. It is not often that students are given an opportunity to learn cooking skills in school and it is now time to bring that skill back into a classroom.
