Let me introduce you to my wonderful group of students! My students are an excited, eager, motivated, and athletic bunch of children. The 25 students in my fourth grade room enter my room and become little sponges soaking up all the knowledge they can. And one thing that sets me students apart from all the others in their pure love of reading! As soon as they come in they ask when reading time is. They are devouring books in my classroom and the school's library. They love all books and read any chance they can get. My students are also a very athletic group. They are all heavily involved in sports and it comes out especially in their writing and at recess time!
I teach in a smaller population town, but a very large in land area.
The students live everywhere from the busy and heavily populated town center, the vast and quiet rural farmland, the subsidized housing complexes, and cul-de-sacs with manicured lawns. And just as varied is the town, my students are just as diverse. The town has two elementary schools and those school just happen to be connected.
My Project
I am requesting 4 bean bag chairs for my classroom. One use these bean bags will have in my classroom is for alternative seating. My students all have different needs when it comes to learning. It is my hope that by offering students alternative seats to the traditional table and chairs that it provides the student with a work space that will allow them to get comfortable and focus. I also believe that for students who have problems with attention that the option to change seats will give them a break and change in environment will help with refocus.
The second use I would like these bean bag chairs for is for the students to use during silent reading.
Reading literature is such an important part of education and teaching the love of reading. Therefore I want to make the reading experience that much more enjoyable for my students. Having these comfy bean bags available to the students will help them enjoy reading that much more!
