This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My school is so thrilled to be back in the classroom after a long period of remote learning! One of the best things about being a teacher is interacting directly with children who are eager to learn and spend their weekdays in a fun, safe, and exciting environment where they can make lots of new friends.
My preschool program is called Expanded Transitional Kindergarten/Preschool Collaborative Classroom (ETK/PCC).
It includes eight students with disabilities and sixteen students without disabilities. This is an innovative and inclusive preschool model where students with special needs learn, play, and grow alongside their typically-developing peers. Research has shown time and time again that these inclusive classrooms are beneficial to both students with and without disabilities, while building a culture of compassion, acceptance, and friendships without boundaries.
We are a Title l school that receives federal funds to support at-risk students living at or near the poverty line. Title l aims to bridge the gap between low-income students and other students.
My Project
After being stuck indoors for over a year during the COVID-19 pandemic, it is more important than ever for children to get plenty of time to play and learn outdoors. My 4-year-old students are developing their gross motor skills and learning specifically how to run efficiently, throw and catch balls, jump rope, hula hoop, and build with wooden blocks.
I am requesting a kid-sized indoor/ outdoor equipment cart that can carry and easily wheel around many of these outdoor materials they need to build strength and skills.
I am also requesting an all-purpose teaching cart with wheels that we can roll outside for read-alouds, art projects, and other fun lessons.
