Help me give my students the opportunity to learn computer programming with the Bee Bot! These are simple robots made to teach primary students complex computing skills!
Our town is a small, rural, and a very tight-knit community. My students range from grades DK (Developmental Kindergarten) through sixth, and many of them come from low-income families working hard to supply basic needs to their children. In fact, every student in the district receives both breakfast and lunch at no cost due to poverty.
Our school is a safe place learn and grow.
Students come to my class weekly to learn about Science, Engineering, Math, and Technology. We research, plan, create, re-evaluate and create again. I love to see the joy in my student's eyes when they discover they can accomplish amazing things! My student's are very much hands-on learners, and they love to learn through playing and doing.
My Project
Blue-Bots are unique robots built with multi-aged children in mind. They are simple enough for kindergarteners to program. Our first activity will be to program the blue-bots to navigate a maze by working together to create a step-by-step plan to reach the bee hive. My kindergarten students are so excited when their program is successful! Blue-Bots are also advanced enough for sixth graders to program using a computer and a bluetooth connection. In this way, the older students can write algorithms and use loops, conditionals, and functions to program the Blue-Bots to work together to solve a common goal, such as collecting "pollen" from "flowers" placed around the classroom. I am excited to see my students grow confident and skilled as they learn computer science.
Students that learn computer science are empowered to engage with powerful ideas, solve problems, and be creative.
These skills will enable my students throughout their lives no matter what career path they choose to follow. Thank you for helping me to take my students to the next level by providing Blue-Bots to my classroom.
