Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Each day my students walk into my classroom looking to achieve academic greatness. They bring me their bright smiles and brighter ideas on their journey, and all I want is to help them reach all their goals. They are capable of anything, all they need is support and guidance on the road to Wow!
I serve in a Title I school in south Dallas.
With 100% of my class qualifying as high poverty and "at-risk," it is essential that I provide them the best educational experiences I possibly can. My scholars are fun, energetic, creative, loving children that need as much support, guidance, and love as I can give them. Providing a safe, organized, accessible environment is the first step in ensuring that my students are excited and comfortable expressing themselves, taking risks, and growing.
My Project
The materials requested in this projects will help the scholars in two different ways. First, because two classes share one room, we need a better system for keeping resources organized without the drama. The storage boxes will ensure that each student has their own dedicated area for supplies. Also, the large base ten blocks will be extremely helpful when students begin working with place value in larger numbers. This is a concept that can be challenging, and having a large manipulative can help students visualize and "feel" the concept in different ways. This set is also large enough for students to provide whole class demonstrations to help each other learn.
By creating a more productive, drama-free, organized, and efficient classroom scholars will be able to spend more time learning and less time worrying about resources.
When they feel ownership and pride in the classroom and the supplies they not only learn responsibility for those items, but they feel more comfortable and confident in the learning environment.
