My students need puzzles to help them practice their solving skills. Children will try to put puzzle pieces to fit into the proper place by flipping and turning.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The children of my classroom struggle with math. Puzzles touch on many areas under the math subject. Children lack skills in problem solving and puzzles will expose them to these lacking skills.
The children of my classroom are four years old.
They come from low social economic families who speak mainly Spanish. In order to enhance their mathematical abilities, I have observed that puzzles touch on these areas of development which are lacking in my classroom.
My Project
The puzzles will provide the children with many different opportunities to develop problem solving, memory and knowledge, curiosity and initiative, engagement and persistence, and number sense of quantity and counting. Puzzles will also help with shapes and classification. Puzzles will also prepare them for the next level of their educational career.
These new puzzles will make a difference in the classroom.
The puzzles they have now, are old, worn, and broken. These new puzzles will be rotated by theme and necessity. These puzzles will introduce children to many new skills required in their development.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
