Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come to school happy and ready to learn despite what may be happening at home. They come in with smiles, greeting one another and excited to see what is new to learn. They love to sing, dance and playing fun educational games.

What I love about my kindergarteners is their innocent and truthful view of the world.

For them things are simple, you hurt someone's feelings, say sorry. You make a mess, you clean it up. Despite their black and white thinking of the world, their discussions can get deep for 5-year-olds and it is always fun to hear what they are thinking.

My Project

Newspapers and magazines are being lost to my generation of students. With Scholastic's Let's Find Out, my students will be able to have their own copy of this wonderful nonfiction magazine. With Let's Find Out students will not only practice reading but will learn about various science and social studies topics. Students will then be able to take their own copy home to review and discuss with their families.

In an era of devices and online information, Let's Find Out is a weekly PAPER magazine!

Our 21st-century students still have to know how to gather information from various sources of media. Let's Find Out is a great way to bring newsprint back into the classroom. Many families no longer get their news from newspapers and this would be a great way to get families engaged.

The subscription includes the BIG Teacher Issue to read and discuss in class along with paper and pencil extension activities. In class, we can also watch online knowledge building videos and games.
