My school is located in the inner city, low-income area. The school serves grades Pre-K through 8th grade. All students are living below the poverty line, and the district is suffering major budget cuts. The educators are working hard to give back to the community and make the school successful.
"Devoted teachers and inspired students work together to make a commitment to achieve a successful education!"
I teach no more than 15 at-risk Pre-Kindergarten students. Almost all of my students enter my classroom with learning deficits. This does not stop them! They are very active and excited scholars. They try to do their very best with every activity and lesson given to them. They are special because they are happy to come to school every day. They are eager to learn. They make everything in the classroom a learning experience. I love to watch them grow socially, emotionally, cognitively, and physically. I love their determination and persistence to get the job done. I love their curiosity and willingness to investigate every learning opportunity.
My Project
This quarter will be the first learning experience for my Pre-K students. Their first learning experience will start at home. We will be doing remote learning with synchronous and asynchronous experiences. I want my students to have all the materials needed to make their first learning experience fun and memorable. They are in need of puzzles. Puzzles are a part of a 4 year old’s development. They will develop emotional, cognitive, and physical skills.
Puzzles will exercise their minds and challenge their thinking.
During asynchronous learning, my students will use the puzzles during self-directed areas. Puzzles are needed as a choice of learning. They need puzzles to develop problem-solving skills. Puzzles assist with teaching them how to understand following step-by-step directions. Puzzles will be used to enhance hand-eye coordination. They will develop their fine motor skills which will increase in handwriting and drawing skills. The accomplishment of this goal will bring self-esteem. There is an awesome satisfaction when you complete a challenging task.
